Sometimes I need to use our home computer to send a last-minute email to my work from my personal account. Is this a bad idea?

It can be. Many companies have acceptable use policies for sending email or rules about what kind of content can be sent via email. Or you might accidentally send a co-worker or client a virus or worm that infiltrated your home PC (corporate networks tend to have stronger security). Some companies fall under regulations to track and archive email. If this is the case for your company, it might not want you to send work emails from your personal account under any circumstance.

If you really need to send the occasional work email from home, talk to someone in your IT department about getting secure access to your work email account from your home computer or get permission from your supervisor to send email from home.
